This year, WoodSolutions was proud to sponsor the Education and Research Award category at the Sustainability Awards. To submit a design for this award category, the project must include a childcare centre, preschool, primary, secondary or tertiary educational facility or a facility where an educational institution is a partner. This requirement aligns perfectly with the WoodSolutions mission to share valuable information about designing and building with timber to meet your projects’ sustainability and innovation goals.
While the shortlist submissions were all outstanding, the winner of this year’s award category was Walker Corporation with their project Western Sydney University Bankstown City Campus. The development, an 18-story tower with nine levels dedicated to education and nine for industry, stands as a transformative hub in Bankstown CBD. The project, achieving a 6 Star Green Star Design and As Built rating, showcases a sustainable and innovative approach, combining technology and design for long-term economic and social benefits, with eco-friendly features positioning it to attain Gold WELL core credentials and minimize environmental impact. Congratulations to the team at Walker Corporation for this impressive win.
Further in this edition of the Sustainability eBook, we dive into the Resilient Timber Homes Program with manager Paolo Lavisci.
