In Australia, and internationally, there is currently a renaissance occurring in the use of timber mid-rise construction. The collective understanding of the structural design process is increasing every year, and engineers are continuing to push the boundaries. The structural design process for mid-rise timber-buildings is quickly evolving, with an increased focus on off-site manufacturing and building performance critical for the structural engineer.
This WoodSolutions Seminar will focus on the key design considerations for the structural engineer - from concept to construction, as well as formally launching an exciting new timber engineering preliminary design software, TimberTech.
We are fortunate to have some of Australia’s foremost engineers to present on:
- the use of the new TimberTech structural engineering software, which has the capability to efficiently perform analysis and design of walls, floors and connections – producing calculation reports and a print a bill of quantities; this state-of-the-art software has been developed through a 12-month collaborative R&D project, harmonizing the Eurocode with the Australian Standards;
- the preliminary and detailed design approaches for various structural systems, including CLT shear walls, CLT cores, timber-framed shear walls, glulam bracing, light-weight and massive-timber floors;
- structural design optimisation approaches for cost-efficiency, and design for manufacture and assembly (DFMA) considerations.
This seminar is a must for all structural engineers, and is also of interest to all building professionals including architects, building designers, builders, developers, educators and building surveyors/certifiers
