Lightweight timber-framed construction is the cheapest way to build mid-rise buildings. This seminar will explore the latest developments in timber framing that helps to achieve this.
Topics include new products and uses of engineered timber in mid-rise design, including LVL as a stud, and off-site manufactured elements such as cassette floors and stairs.
Discussion will also be had on the design pathway required to successfully design lightweight timber-framed buildings, as well as understanding how accurate timber framing can be and how this is achieved.
Rounding out the seminar will be information on the recently published AS 1720.4 Timber Structures Fire Resistance of Timber Elements Standard, what is natural and standard fire char rates, and when to use them. Completing the program will be an update on how timber mid-rise buildings are fairing in costs comparison against non-wood buildings, and the latest developments from WoodSolutions.
Also available will be suppliers and providers of services to this growing building sector.
