Inspiring Spaces- Buildings that teach and heal

About the seminar:

The architects involved in this session have design expectations that serve to optimise wellbeing and inspire. This session will explore health facilities that make people better and educational buildings that encourage learning and “teach” students. Case studies from Canada and Australia will be presented with clear examples of the benefits of human-centric design.

International Presenter:

Tye Farrow has designed award-winning projects across Canada and around the world.  He is a global leader who is making a significant contribution to health and humanity trough the medium of architecture and design.

He has been designated by The Globe and Mail’s Report on Business magazine as one of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40; recognising Canada’s “best and brightest”.  He holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Toronto and a Master of Architecture in Urban Design from Harvard University.

Julian Ashton

Principal, BVN

Julian is currently leading the design and delivery of the South East Regional Hospital in Bega as well as collaborating with the design teams working on the CSIRO Black Mountain Consolidation Project and the University of South Australia’s Health Innovation Building.  This follows a busy couple of years designing and delivering new facilities in Sydney Childrens, Campbelltown and Sutherland Hospitals.

Julian’s involvement in these projects covers the entire spectrum of architectural activity including master planning, concept design, user group consultations, documentation and contract administration.  Of particular interest to Julian is bringing the expertise and lessons learned from one project into others in different sectors, this leads to an enrichment of the exploration of building types and the development of new paradigms that in turn break down the segmentation from one building type to another.
