About the seminar:
The architects involved in this session have design expectations that serve to optimise wellbeing and inspire. This session will explore health facilities that make people better and educational buildings that encourage learning and “teach” students. Case studies from Canada and Australia will be presented with clear examples of the benefits of human-centric design.
International Presenter:
Tye Farrow has designed award-winning projects across Canada and around the world. He is a global leader who is making a significant contribution to health and humanity trough the medium of architecture and design.
He has been designated by The Globe and Mail’s Report on Business magazine as one of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40; recognising Canada’s “best and brightest”. He holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Toronto and a Master of Architecture in Urban Design from Harvard University.

Mark Roehrs
Principal, HASSELL
Mark leads the Education and Science sector for HASSELL and is an expert in the briefing, design and delivery of large complex projects. He is highly regarded by clients and collaborators for his ability to innovatively brief and design projects. Notably, Mark was significantly involved in the design of the University of Queensland Advanced Engineering Building and the Queensland Ecosciences Precinct, both receiving the coveted Harry Seildler architectural award. His advice is based on a rigorous understanding of learning and research processes and hands-on experience of delivering major education science projects. His knowledge leadership has been informed by research visits to over 50 best practice laboratory facilities around Europe and the USA.
Robert Keen
Senior Associate, HASSELL
Since joining HASSELL in 2006, Robert has made a significant contribution to the design and delivery of a number of government institutional, master planning and infrastructure projects while having a broader design overview of architectural projects within the Brisbane studio. Previously, he spent 10 years with ML Design where as Director of Design (Brisbane) he was responsible for overseeing a broad range of residential, commercial, retail and master planning projects of various sizes and complexity. His project portfolio is extensive and most recently includes The Science Place at James Cook University, The University of Queensland Global Change Institute, St Vincents Private Hospital and the Royal Children’s Hospital Master Plan.
