Forest and Wood Products Australia (FWPA) will be holding three workshops in areas that have been badly affected by fires with loss of homes. Our brand WoodSolutions communicates with the design and build specifiers nationally.

It is important to help support and inform communities affected by bushfires. The long-term sustainable rebuilding of critical infrastructures and housing to enable the community to become fully functional as quickly as possible is important for their future as individuals, families and communities.  It is also important to ensure future disaster risk by rebuilding to the bushfire standard and using the free resources available to do this.

Events:

  • BAIRNSDALE, VIC – Tuesday 10th March, 9.30am – 12.30pm (Bairnsdale RSL, The Lakes Room, 2 Forge Creek Rd, Bairnsdale VIC  3875)
  • TUMBARUMBA, NSW – Wednesday 11th March  - 9.30am – 12.30pm (Tumbarumba RSL Hall, Winton Street, Tumbarumba NSW 2653)
  • BEGA, NSW – Thursday 12th March – 9.30 – 12.30pm (Bega Valley Civic Centre, Zingel Place, Bega NSW 2550)

These devasting bushfires around Australia have affected many people, communities, pets and wildlife with loss of homes and properties. Our agenda includes topics that are helpful to communities such as preparing for fires and how to care for yourself, loved ones, and pets.
It also includes bushfire recovery and rebuilding and the benefits of biophilic design in the re-build.

Tonia Todman, Australian TV personality has agreed to host the workshops.

Topics below:

  • Pets and Bushfires/Hot Days – Plan and prepare for the safety of your pets, tips for hot weather, heat stress, warning signs, keeping pets cool, etc. (incorporating wildlife discussion) – RFS/CFA (depending on State)
  • How to prepare your property – RFS/CFA
  • Bushfire Recovery and Rebuilding – Speaker Nigel Bell from EcoDesign
  • Tonia Todman shares her story about how she coped when a devastating fire engulfed her home and B & B business
