Structural Engineers Workshop Course Content and Speakers
With the recent increased use of cross-laminated timber (CLT) and Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL) for commercial and mid-rise buildings, there has been growing demand for structural design information. The engineering of such structures requires designers to look beyond Australian Standards, as they update and keep pace with emerging technology. To address this, and in parallel with the recently released WoodSolutions Guide #50 Mid-Rise Timber Building Structural Engineering, a series of five, two-day detailed workshops on the structural design of Mass Timber (CLT and LVL) for commercial and mid-rise buildings will be held. The first workshop will be held on Tuesday 25 and Wednesday 26 February in Adelaide. The workshop is aimed at structural engineers and is limited to 25 persons. Speakers for the workshop will be Andrew Dunn and Jon Shanks and assisted by invited industry experts.
Workshop content includes
• Wall and Floor design
• Axial Shortening and Differential Movement
• Connectors and Tie-down design
• Lateral and over turning resistance design
• Robustness, Earthquake
• Fire and Acoustic Design
