You are invited to attend Timber Industry Forum – To Create a More Sustainable Australia. Australian government commits to reduce emissions to 26-28% on 2005 levels by 2030. RMIT University is proud to be one of the advanced actors to take steps by promoting timber buildings. From May 2016, Australia has permitted the construction of Classes 2, 3 and 5 timber buildings to effective heights of as high as 25 metres, which is roughly equivalent to eight storeys. All these have brought us both opportunities and challenges.

Therefore, we are organizing the Timber Industry Forum, aiming to address the practical barriers for timber buildings and find the best way to conquer them. This forum not only can provide the trends and future guidance related to timber buildings, but also can foster the collaborations within this area. You will be beneficial from but not limited to the following aspects:

  • Hazards during the construction and usage of timber buildings;
  • Innovations to create a more sustainable and low-cost timber building;
  • Australian and international building codes and guidelines; and
  • Current progresses and challenges of timber buildings in Australia.

This forum will bring together engineers, designers and researchers. We really need your expertise and experience to help creating a more sustainable Australia. If you are interested in this forum, please kindly register through https://goo.gl/forms/XF1axCKdpWWiyiPG3 by 6 December 2016 for catering purpose.
