Massive Timber Buildings: Design, Specification & Construction for Commercial & Multi-Storey Projects
Although traditionally timber has been used in home building, interest using it in multistorey residential construction and commercial building is increasing significantly.
A number of materials now exist, including mass-timber products like cross laminated timber (CLT), used in the construction of massive timber building like the ten storey Forte Apartments, and The Library at Docklands, both at Port Melbourne. Also lightweight timber/plasterboard fire and sound rated systems used in multiresidential buildings, and a range of prefabricated and panelised system options.
These all provide a range of ’systems-based’ benefits including reduced time on site, construction efficiencies, easier handling, reduced OH&S issues, and more cost effective construction. Additionally, the benefits of using timber provide aesthetically unique, workable, light-weight and environmentally friendly solutions.
This seminar will explore the benefits of mass and lightweight timber systems available today for multi-residential, commercial and public building applications.
Industry experts will discuss key design, specification and supply details and present practical case studies of recently constructed buildings.
