Timber has always provided a stunningly beautiful choice for external applications: cladding, decking, screens, boardwalks, jetties, landscaping, to name a few. The use of timber externally continues to grow in popularity and for good reason – it is aesthetically pleasing, it has excellent environmental credentials, and when specified correctly, provides a durable and beautiful long-lasting design solution.
But choosing the correct species, finish, treatment and installation process is critical to a successful design outcome. This free seminar will provide the key facts to using timber externally. The presentations from one of Australia’s leading timber-focused architect and other timber industry experts will cover: the selection, design and use of timber in cladding, decking and other external applications (with project case studies), choosing the right timber finishes for exterior use, when and how to effectively use preservative treated timber, and also the latest information around specifying timber in exterior applications in bushfire-prone areas; a critical issue every summer.
The seminar is a must for all building and design professionals including architects, building designers, engineers, certifiers, builders, regulators, educators and students.
