There is currently a race around the world to build the tallest timber building so where does Australia sit in this race and what is currently being constructed. Australian leaders in this field of design and construction will be addressing an all-day seminar in Adelaide on 29 November 2017. Keynote speakers will be Jeremy Tompson, a Lend Lease Project Manager and Georgios Anagnostou from Jackson Teece Architects.
Mr Tompson from Lend Lease will talk about his experiences from the recently completed 7 storey timber office buildings – International House, Sydney whilst Mr Anagnostou will talk about his recent study tour on Japanese timber architecture, exploring the influence of traditional timber design and construction techniques on contemporary Japanese architecture and its relevance to modern timber design, construction and engineering.
Other speakers will discuss the Cost Plan outcomes for an 8 storey timber apartment building and a 7 storey office building, Deemed to Satisfy building regulations around tall timber buildings, occupants well-being, modern timber connectors, exterior wall solutions with timber and acoustic solutions for floors.
