Description
AS1684 Residential timber framed construction is the primary standard for the design and specification of residential timber framed construction in Australia. It is used widely by all building professionals: engineers, architect, building designers, building surveyors, regulators, educators - and of course builders.
A series of three WoodSolutions Webinars (held monthly) will provide, from the experts, an overview of AS1684, the key understandings that you need to use the standard properly, and explanation of the areas that are sometimes misinterpreted or not well understood.
The first webinar of this series will be delivered by one of industry’s most well-known educational authorities, Mr Lex Somerville. This webinar will cover AS1684’s Scope and Framing Member Sizing sections.
Though 45min is limited for this detailed topic, Lex will provide the ‘pearls of wisdom’ of what users need to know about using AS1684 for framing. He will address and discuss the questions he gets regularly from users, and will provide some examples of things done right & those done wrong in timber framed construction.
Future webinars in the AS1684 series will also include:
10th May – Bracing: design, specification & detailing – Afzal Laphir
7th June - Tie-downs and connections - Tim Rossiter
If you are a user of AS1684 then don’t miss this special WoodSolutions webinar series.
