The change to the National Construction Code, Volume One (NCC) in 2016 introduced fire-protected timber as a Deemed-to-Satisfy (DTS) solution for Class 2 (apartments), Class 3 (e.g. hotels/motels) and Class 5 (office) buildings up to 25 metres in effective height incorporating automatic sprinklers throughout. There is also a desire by building professionals to vary from the DTS provisions requiring a Performance Solution.
The presentations from this WoodSolutions seminar describe principles for the fire safe design of timber buildings.
