Massive timber buildings made from Cross Laminated Timber (CLT), LVL and Glulam are revolutionising the use of structural timber in commercial buildings across the world. This was seen in Australia with the recently completed ‘Forte' project in Melbourne - currently the world tallest modern timber apartment building (10 storeys).
This seminar is intended to explore this new frontier in timber design and construction. Presentations will:
- discuss the essential design issues for a successful CLT building and what makes a CLT solution more economical over other building systems;
- explore the developments and use of large span floor systems in LVL and Glulam; examine the increasing use of timber screws, the new way to join timber economically;
- present some exciting new timber building design tools; and
- explain how to deal with important fire and acoustic code compliant issues.
Our expert panel of speakers are representatives of the product fabrication and supply chain. Through their extensive experience they will be able to concisely identify critical issues and provide some unique insights into the design of massive timber buildings - following the presentations they will then invite discussion and debate from the floor.
This seminar is a must for those in the building design and development industry.
