The current status quo is to apply the concept of ‘sustainability’ to the discourse of our actions in planning, design, development, manufacturing, and construction, even agriculture and forestry. However, sustainability may not be enough, as to ‘sustain’ is still part of a degenerating system – we need to go beyond sustainability to move from a degenerative system to a regenerative system. Regenerative Design provides the opportunity to restore, renew, revitalise, and replenish our natural resources. The aim of the process is to achieve net-positive impacts for nature, ecology, health and society. In this podcast we're speaking with Dr Phillip Roos, one of the world's foremost experts on regenerative design.
0:11 What is the current state of the planet?
3:15 How is sustainability different from regenerative design?
6:06 What needs to change to step closer to regenerative forestry?
8:16 What are the four perspectives of regenerative design?
14:31 Does timber and biophilic design add to regenerative design?
19:09 Do we need to change the way things are done fundamentally?
