Description
Long span lightweight prefabricated timber floors are seldom load governed, instead limited by their nuanced behaviour of acoustic transmission and vibration characteristics. We are joined by two of the fields’ experts and will be walked through the latest in design from North America and Australia, diving into both mass timber and lightweight prefabricated systems.
Aedan established Pliteq’s Vancouver office in 2020 and oversees the global mass timber and technical services teams. Aedan has helped lead Pliteq’s growth in sustainable construction projects and is a thought leader in the area of mass timber acoustics. He provides education to engineers, architects, and contractors on Pliteq’s solutions.
Joel Parry-Jones, of PKA Consultants, is an Australia-based acoustic consultant who works with architects and builders to help design for acoustic comfort within residential homes. Join us for insights from Joel on enhancing acoustic comfort in residential design. He emphasizes, "Internal acoustics are frequently neglected when designing new homes. With the Building Code of Australia lacking specific sound insulation requirements, architects often overlook acoustics during the design phase."
