NEW LIFE CYCLE ANALYSIS PAPER SUPPORTS INCREASED USE OF WOOD

As individuals, companies and governments look to ways of reducing the carbon footprints of built structures, life cycle analysis (LCA) is becoming an increasingly important tool. Providing a basis for comparison and evaluation, they allow informed decisions to be made and substantiated.

This paper compares the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of substituting timber for other materials in two typical Sydney suburban home designs.

CLT in Multistorey Residential Buildings - Philipp Zumbrunnen

A specialist timber engineer, Philipp is a founding director of CarbonEng where he is responsible for timber design. As a Project Director of EURBAN Limited, he also manages the design and delivery team.

Philipp's fascinating presentation includes a brief history of CLT, a look at CLT structures in the UK, a new case study and some pointers to the future of massive timber construction.
