Description
Wood structures, like all lightweight constructions, do not have a high acoustic performance at low frequencies. This is particularly true concerning impact sounds and the transmission of structural vibrations through the structure (flanking noise). For this purpose, the propagation of vibrations shall be limited with appropriate design and materials, using resilient profiles according to the desolidarisation principle. Based on the results from experimental measurements and actual designs, the webinar will explain the solutions for mass timber structures, how to choose the correct resilient profile, where and how to install it in order to optimize its efficiency.

Paola Brugnara
After graduating in Architectural and Construction Engineering at the University of Trento, her experience has included working as an architect at Chapman Taylor in Madrid where she participated in the design of significant international projects from concept to detailed design. She has also worked with Grupo Las Rosas Internacional, where she assumed responsibility for construction sites around Spain and Italy. Her interest in sustainable architecture and energy efficiency in buildings, has led her back to Italy again and to Rothoblaas, a leading developer and provider of high technology solutions in the wood construction sector. As product engineer, she focuses on energy saving, green building, environmental and acoustic comfort, in collaboration with the scientific R&D of products for airtightness and sound insulation at the structural level.
