Ironbark decking provides a robust and contextual material for the boardwalk. The timber decking softens into the natural bushland setting. The boardwalk creates a wide and open space to navigate the park, while also protecting root zones for the trees. The boardwalk culminates at the beach between two heritage listed Moreton Bay Fig trees.

Sub framing of the decks utilises a composite engineered timber for increased strength and durability.

An aptly titled lower deck called ‘Fig Tree Plaza’ perches near the foreshore fig trees, providing a generous seating bench and leisure area. The undulating form of the timber battens below reference the natural formations of the tree roots surrounding. The under deck acts as an informal play area for children to interact with nature. The sloping timber ‘tilting edge’ is a test of balance and skill for children playing in the area.

Other amenities include a half court basketball court, bike repair centre, jumping pillow and exercise circuits. Parking has been relocated from the park to the neighbouring Kennedy Street to expand the natural setting.
